DJ Case supported the U.S. delegation to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in Doha, Qatar, through communication consultation and development of a web site to present U.S. positions and updates from the conference.
USCITES.gov - a temporary, campaign site - featured text, photo and video updates uploaded by delegates directly from Qatar. The site also offered video and photo downloads for news media outlets, and resources for students following endangered species issues.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service enlisted DJ Case for consultation and implementation of a public involvement process and scoping meetings preparatory to development of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Mexican Wolf reintroduction in Arizona and New Mexico. The project included organizing and facilitating 12 open house public meetings, development of educational materials, a “virtual” meeting web site (MexicanWolfEIS.org), coordination with a multi-agency group, and review and summarization of public comments.
Video resources shot and produced by DJ Case in longleaf pine country of the nation's southeast call for conservation of the fire-dependent ecosystem on which endangered red-cockaded woodpeckers depend.
The Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Goose Management Plan (YKDGMP) was a ground-breaking cooperative effort between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Association of Village Council Presidents, and the California Department of Fish and Game to restore arctic nesting goose populations. A critically important component of the YKDGMP was a Congressionally-mandated information and education program. DJ Case was retained to conduct an evaluation of the information and education program to determine how effective the effort had been and how it could be improved.
DJ Case worked over a three-year period with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Migratory Shore and Upland Game Bird Support Task Force to update the research and management needs of the 16 species of migratory shore and upland game birds, and to develop a strategy for funding priority research and management needs for these species.
