Assistant Project Manager
Morgan is an online communication and information technology specialist who is passionate about taking complicated scientific facts and making them interesting and accessible to the public. She believes that many of the world’s environmental problems can be improved through communication and education. Morgan's father is a wildlife biologist, so she grew up learning about conservation and has always been involved in making the world a little greener.
She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in innovation from the University of Florida. She has worked with a number of environmental organizations and departments, including the U.S. Geological Survey, Restore America’s Estuaries, the University of Florida Office of Sustainability, and Gators for Environmental Community Outreach (GECO). Her work with these organizations involved social media management, website content creation, and copywriting, which aimed to bring information to diverse audiences.
Her technical experience comes from her work with the University of Florida Computing Help Desk, where she assisted students, faculty, and staff with troubleshooting email, connectivity, and educational apps. She also served as the senior supervisor for the Application Support Center where she edited and formatted theses and dissertations for graduate students.
Morgan also spent four months working with Otra Cosa Network, a nonprofit located in Huanchaco, Peru, teaching children about local and global environmental issues and what they could do to make a difference. She worked with other volunteers to build a curriculum based on the most pressing environmental concerns in the country, which included mining and deforestation in the Amazon. She loved working with the children because she saw how much they cared about their community and how willing they were to make changes in their own lives to make their world more sustainable and healthier. Morgan also helped with the organization’s Facebook and Instagram accounts and created a social media guide for future use. During her time in Peru, Morgan learned Spanish and continues to take classes to keep it fresh.
Morgan’s work has always centered around the idea that conservation starts with accurate information and targeted, reliable communication. Her goal is to use words and multimedia to inspire others to take care of the earth like a loved one; nurtured and healthy.
