Phil Seng

Phil celebrated 30 years at DJ Case on March 12, 2020. Dave Case and the staff threw him a surprise party at the North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference in Omaha.They also produced a short video chronicling Phil's three decades at DJ Case.

The report describes findings from an online survey of a randomly selected group of Alaska sport-fishing license holders. The survey sought to gather information about respondents’ understanding of sport fish regulations and preferences for methods and means of their communication.

A small proportion of respondents (only 14 percent) indicated they understood regulations “well.” Most indicated at least some level of confusion: 60 percent said regulations were at least “somewhat” confusing. The most avid anglers residing in Alaska were the likeliest group to think of sport-fishing regulations as very, mostly, or somewhat confusing.

The Alaska Department of Fish & Game is using the results to inform potential regulation changes to encourage more (and more consistent) angler participation.

Co-edited the landmark Best Practices Workbook for Boating, Fishing, and Aquatic Resources Stewardship Education for the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation. This publication continues to guide boating and fishing R3 efforts throughout the nation.

Named a Certified Wildlife Biologist by The Wildlife Society. Has served on numerous TWS committees and working groups at the state, regional and national levels.

Authored full-color guidebook to wildlife viewing locations in the Great Lakes State.

Co-authored the Indiana Wildlife Viewing Guide with Dave Case.

Earned a master’s degree in wildlife biology from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri. Served as 1989 graduate student representative to the University of Missouri Department of Fisheries and Wildlife faculty and to the Missouri Graduate Student Association.

Was the first employee of DJ Case & Associates (“Two guys in an office above the print shop"). Became vice-president and partner in 2005. Became president in 2020.

Earned a bachelor’s degree in forestry and wildlife management from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.
